Happy, healthy, radiant smiles are closer than ever for the whole family thanks to two local Swihart Orthodontics locations in Newport News and Gloucester, VA. Convenience, compassion, and reliability rule when it comes to choosing your orthodontics professional, and we invite you to take a look around and see what makes our practice so uniquely perfect for families.
With nearly three decades of experience to dedicate to your smile, we welcome patients of all ages to Swihart Orthodontics. From our youngest patients who come in to meet us as early as age six to see if Phase 1 interceptive orthodontic treatment will serve them, to ‘tweens and teens needing braces, to adults who want to straighten or stabilize their smiles, you can rely on us to provide the very best in orthodontic care.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that parents or guardians bring children in for an initial orthodontic examination by age 7. The purpose of this visit is to evaluate whether or not early intervention can help to reduce the need for longer, more invasive orthodontic treatment once the child’s adult teeth come in. Not every child will need this early intervention, but a yearly checkup during these initial years of adult tooth eruption will ensure that tooth and jaw positioning remain ideal for the child’s long-term smile well-being.
Teens and ‘tweens are our largest client group, with braces commonly used at this age to straighten teeth and create an ideal smile for a lifetime. We have options such as traditional metal braces, clear ceramic braces, and in some cases clear aligners. The available options will depend on the individual case, and Dr. Swihart will discuss details with patients and their guardians.
Later in life, many adults also decide that they want to enjoy a straighter smile. Some adults even address lifetime jaw misalignment issues. Whether you are dealing with minimal or more complex orthodontic issues, it’s never too late to schedule a consultation and see what’s possible to make you feel more confident in your smile. Some orthodontic issues can even affect everyday essentials like chewing, speaking, and breathing. If you have struggles that you’d like an orthodontic professional to address, we are here to help.
