Smiles All Around: Orthodontics is a Family Affair

Meet sisters and Swihart Orthodontics patients, Rachel and Katie. They supported one another on their smile straightening journey with their Invisalign treatments, strengthening their relationship, and boosting their confidence too!

Teens Supporting Each Other

For Katie and Rachel, teaming up for their orthodontic treatments made their appointments more comfortable. It also made the girls more responsible about wearing their aligners. They set a day each week to change their aligners. Rachel was inspired to wear her aligners more frequently when she observed that Katie was getting quicker and more dramatic results with her teeth.

Both girls cite confidence issues as a reason they wanted to have their teeth straightened. Katie, who now smiles often and with self-assurance, says that before Invisalign, she would smile with her lips closed to hide her teeth.

We’re impressed with these sisters’ commitment to getting the smiles they want and how they have helped each other along the way.

Promote Proper Growth

It’s not only teens who can visit Swihart Orthodontics together. The whole family needs to visit their family orthodontist regularly. However, visits for children are more critical because their teeth and jaw are still growing. Dr. Swihart and her excellent staff will notice any abnormal growth patterns that, if dealt with early, are less invasive to correct. Correct tooth and jaw alignment ensures that your child can eat and speak properly.

Additionally, your child’s confidence and self-esteem are affected by their smile. For teen sisters, Katie and Rachel, improving their smiles with Invisalign treatments gave them confidence they had never enjoyed before. Straightening their teeth to achieve the look they want has been a positive experience for them both.

Other Benefits of Early Orthodontics:

  • Prevention of inevitable problems from developing, such as bite issues or gaps.
  • Children’s teeth typically respond more quickly to braces and clear aligners.
  • Overbites, underbites, crowded or overlapping teeth, and excessive gaps are easier to address in younger patients.

Should I get traditional braces or Invisalign?

Invisalign is not always the best choice for everyone. Dr. Swihart will discuss your individual case with you, but in general, Invisalign isn’t for everyone. If you or your child has a more complex case, then traditional braces are the way to go.

Also, if you don’t think your child will be responsible enough to wear their aligners daily, then the ‘set it and forget it’ benefit of traditional braces is the choice for you. After all, not everyone has a sister to remind them to put their aligners in!
