Caring for Your Smile with Clear Aligners
Follow these simple tips to keep your aligners and your smile clean, comfortable, and on track.
Wear Your Aligners Consistently
Wear your aligners 22 hours a day. Only remove them to eat, drink (anything other than water), or brush and floss.
You’ll switch to a new aligner each week as your treatment progresses.
Some tightness or mild discomfort is normal when starting a new aligner. If needed, take ibuprofen, Advil, or Tylenol, whatever you would normally use for a headache or fever.
Eating and Drinking with Clear Aligners
Remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water.
When removing, grip from the back and gently pull down until the tray releases.
Before putting your aligners back on your teeth, brush your teeth or rinse thoroughly with water to remove food or debris.
Cleaning Your Aligners
Remove your aligners when brushing your teeth.
Brush and floss your teeth as usual, then clean your aligners by:
- Holding them gently in your hand.
- Brushing the inside and outside surfaces with a soft toothbrush.
- Rinsing thoroughly with cool water (avoid hot water).
Place them back on your teeth once clean.
Keep Up with Your Progress!
Each new aligner brings you closer to your goal of straighter teeth and a confident smile. Stay consistent, keep them clean, and enjoy watching your smile transform!
